Olympic legacy in Montréal

The world descended upon Montréal for the 1976 Summer Olympic Games, the biggest global event Montréal had hosted since Expo 67, which was the most successful World’s Fair of the 20th century. The 1976 Summer Olympics ran from July 17 to August 1. In 2026, Montréal celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Montréal Olympic Games.

UCI Road World Championships - Medal

The UCI Road World Championships Montréal 2026 will make history

Big news for the Montréal sports community! In September 2026, Montréal will be hosting the UCI Road World Championships. Organized by the promoter of the Grands Prix Cyclistes de Québec et de Montréal, with additional support from Cycling Canada, the race will take place from September 20 to 27 next year. And the date is significant: this cycling competition will be among several major events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the biggest sports event in the history of the city, the 1976 Summer Olympics.
