Explore Montréal’s exclusive side at Club Saint-James

Perched on a corner in the centre of Montréal’s busting downtown core, the storied Club Saint-James of Montréal is awash in hushed luxury and state secrets. It’s usually the purview of members only, but event organizers have the privilege of becoming members for a day to be able to rent out their many stunning spaces and enjoy the white-glove service for which they’re renowned.
Here’s a peek behind their usually closed doors.
A club steeped in history
The Saint-James Club of Montréal is one of the oldest private business clubs in Canada, founded 1857. It was originally a gentlemen's club for the city’s anglophone elite but has since evolved into a mixed-sex, predominantly francophone institution.
Originally in Old Montréal on Saint-James Street (now Saint-Jacques), the club has moved locations twice, shifting alongside Montréal’s business district. It first moved to a new building downtown in 1864, as the financial district migrated, and then in 1961, it moved again to make way for Place Ville Marie.
It has been in its current location on Union Avenue and René-Lévesque Boulevard since 1962, in a building built especially for its purpose, with a variety of meeting rooms: from small meeting rooms for a handful of colleagues, to a homey bar, to a selection of large reception spaces.

Spaces for meetings and more
Explore the 28,000 square feet of space offered by the Saint-James Club of Montréal by choosing it for your sumptuous events, and treat your participants to the staff’s white-glove expertise, know-how and the fine cuisine of their private chef.
Onsite you can expect bright decor, classic elegance, modern comfort, audiovisual equipment and top-quality Wi-Fi in spaces ranging from nine adaptable, large-windowed Salons, perfect for strategic meetings or confidential brainstorming sessions for up to 20 people (or more if combined).
And then there’s the Midway Hall, fit for up to 200 people, and the Salle Saint-Denis, which can receive up to 400. The Midway features large windows and high ceilings, and can be configured a number of ways. The room is equipped with a console sound system and a ceiling-mounted screen with projector. The Saint-Denis, meanwhile, also bright with natural light, is equipped with a sound system with console and up to three ceiling-mounted screens and projectors. Four monitors installed on two of the columns can be used to broadcast the presentation or an image of the person on stage, from a wall-mounted camera. The room is equipped with a technical console that maximizes equipment operation and allows a technician to be installed on demand.
Whatever your needs, the Saint-James will strive to meet — and exceed them.
